i think it's a brilliant move; what sells better than nostalgia? i'm vaguely recalling sheep images on backing boards, those should be revived as well.

There will be sheep! (thumbs u

Have you gotten any of the books graded yet from the original owner collection?

Where's the DC's? :foryou:

Not too many DC books in this particular collection. The Flash #123 CGC 9.2 we currently have up for auction (ending tonight) is from the collection. There are also early JLA, Green Lanterns and Flash books coming in October.

We do have MANY MANY additional high grade books we will be offering, plenty of DC stuff among those. We are constantly buying and taking in new consignments. There will be something for everyone!

I figure I'll mention that we won't be taking offers or advance selling any of these books. We will be auctioning everything in true auction format with No Reserve. Everyone will have a chance at our books!

Wow no reserve high end auctions on Ebay.

no need for a reserve since the book is in demand and HTF in HG.

That is certainly a valid point, but please keep in mind that ALL of our auctions will be no reserve.

Why is it still Sunday and the post office doesn't deliver on those days :P

:whee:

If Richard were a woman and I weren't married and this was twenty years ago and I didn't shoot blanks, I'd have his babies.

Unless the Marvel is Daredevil, then it only takes 20 or if the DC is Jimmy Olsen then it takes 80.

Haven't heard the name Sparkle City in many years.

While digging thru some old comic catalogs recently for something else, I found these. Amazing what cr*p I've saved over the yrs. Not sure if I ever bought anything from the original, but sure wish I picked up one of the gems below! 1989 catalog has the following books - these prices are really hard to look at today:

* Detective Comics #27 (NM) $28,000

* Daring Mystery Comics #1 (VF/NM) $2,900

* Pep Comics #22 (VF/NM) $1,800

WOW PreHero, thanks for posting those catalog covers!!!

Sure brings back alot of memories!

PreHero, if you have the time/chance, it would be wonderful to see some scans of the most interesting listings in both those catalogs.

I wish Brian nothing but success in this new venture!

But, it would have been really exciting news if it was Paul Howley and Joe Vereneault teaming up together for Sparkle City 2 - THAT would be exciting!!
