When in doubt, and no other structural flaws ( like spine splits) evident, I use this formula.

 

 

(Front cover grade X 2 + Back cover grade) ÷ 3 = Grade ( rounding if necessary)

 

So

 

(8.5 X 2 + 4.5) ÷ 3 = 7.17 (7.0)

Front looks fantastic... this one's a keeper!

With strict CGC grading I'd reluctantly guess a 5.0 or 5.5 on this one, though it obviously looks loads nicer. Just too much BC paper missing (unless they give it a pass for 'production defects' or some such rationalization).

This is a nice copy. There is also a light dust shadow that will probably affect the grade (use "affect" not "effect" in this sendtence--so says the grammar cop). I think the book will grade out a 7.0 or 7.5 more likely 7.0. Nice copy and nice colors.
