Does This Look like a 9.6? JIM 110

I'm trying to refine my eye after being out of the game for about 10 years.

 

Does this look like a 9.6 book? From the Suscha collection.

Personally I think it's a 9.4,but CGC deems it a 9.6.It is what it is.

That's a dust shadow on the right side isn't it? If so, doesn't that detract from grade a bit? Or is that one of those things CGC ignores and individuals have to decide for themselves if it matters? Or perhaps I'm just seeing things.

Yeah don't think it's such a detractor,don't think CGC lowers the grade for dust shadows.

I don't like the lower corners,they look somewhat rough for a 9.6.

With that dust shadow upper right corner, I would be really pissed off if I was the buyer of this and paid 9.6 price. I have seen CGC 8.5's that look much better

I would call that a 9.0/9.2. No way a 9.6 IMHO..

The answer would be no.

 

 

Without the dust shadow the three corners and small crease at the bottom staple would make it more of a 9.4. While CGC may not punish a grade for a FC dust shadow like that, to me that makes as much sense as not downgrading for a small stain or foxing, especially in the NM grades. Still, it's not like the flaws aren't obvious to any one who looks at a scan.

 

It's due to issues like this, along with PQ and miswraps, that not all books of a grade are equal.

Just got back a 9.8 Transformers 3 that doesn't deserve it. But it happens. 9.2 my guess comparing to my graded stuff.

It looks like a 9.6 to me. The big "9.6" on the label is the tip off.

on guys...CGC is made up of humans...imperfect humans..of course they are gonna screw up time and time. Im tired of everyone thinking CGC is the end all and final decision. Hell, they have goofed up my last few submissions....
