Art Day! Joe Jusko and John Watson

6 posts in this topic

My two recent art pick ups. I've been wanting a nice painting and think these fill that want nicely.

First a Jusko painting. Tomb Raider the Greatest Treasure of All. Page 27. Published in 2005, this fully painted Graphic novel won Jusko a certificate of Merit from the Society of Illustrators. He has stated numerous times this is his best work ever. But besides that - I love that middle panel!

Next John Watson's first published comic book work anywhere. The cover to Comics International 115 - Nov 1999. The background and buildings are done in acrylic, the figures and pumpkin bombs in oil. The effect - and the camera doesn't capture it - makes the figures and pumpkins literally jump off the page.

I love John Watsons Art, I am hoping he will be sketching on our stand at the Bristol Comic Con in the UK next May. Just in the process of saving up for a commission from him.

I'd love to meet John. He has been extremely nice about answering my emails and his website is very interesting.
