it's also a consignment item tho. MCS always lists consignment items at ridiculous prices, usually like 100000x more than they're worth. Books worth $10 will be listed as consignment items for $40.

$10=40 close to 100,000 x I like that math

i figured with that many zeros, it'd be obvious i was exaggerating. has anyone here ever bought one of MCS's consignment items? i assume they sell some, but i can't understand how.

Doesnt the owner set the price they want to sell at, not MCS, when consigning?

Correct.

I have purchased a consignment book from MCS before. Saw it on eBay - at a decent price - then went to their website and bought it 10% cheaper. However, there is still a 3% "buyer's premium" on top of that.

That part I don't understand, though I don't run an auction house. So I am being charged 3% to buy an item from MCS who in turn charges the seller for selling an item through them? Double-dipping?

It is cheaper than other auction sites and they don't charge Sale Tax. 13% added to the total is for the storage fee (as long as you want). Other auction sites make you wait longer to receive books since they are not in possession of the books. MCS shipping is relatively cheap for raw or slabs if you buy an inexpensive book.

The auction house here charges 15% to the buyer and 25% to the seller.

That's typical for an auction house. Someone brings them their stuff to sell and the auction house gets a percentage of the sales. They buyer also pays a fee (usually 3-4%). The local auction house by me charges 4% with a 4% discount for cash, so no fee for cash sales.

Yes, I thought some type of fee was typical for an auction house. I wasn't trying to point the finger at MCS specifically.

The fees people are listing here - on both ends of the sale - make me want to change business.

The ever-present Stan Lee signature.

People get him to sign anything, even stuff that makes no sense.

Like Deadpool books. To my knowledge, Stan Lee had nothing to do with Deadpool in any way, shape or form.

Good to see Sheltered is finally getting some love, such a great series. Not too many slabbed copies listed, guess everyone's sitting on them for a bit

Yeah, I thought there would be more out there by now. It's funny to me, this book and series does quite well as a rule but it has maintained a fairly low profile. (shrug)

WD #61 is starting to show some movement, not because of Chew, but because Father Stokes is expected to be in Season 5 of the show.

Why though? It's barely in the book to begin with.

Stan lee won't be around very long and when he's gone I think books with his signature may be sought after.

Makes me wonder though the sheer volume of his signatures that are out there. I realize its Stan Lee, but every big show I go to has him signing.

There are 3600+ Stan SS on ebay when I searched yesterday. That's pretty insane
