Help needed with 2012 scedueles

21 posts in this topic

Hello all.

I was hoping someone here could help my with next years convention schedules?

I am planning a tour beginning in late May ending mid July. I would like to limit it to the West so anyone familiar with these in particular would be helpful. Anything west of Texas is ok, though I have considered some Texas conventions.

Is there a reason the schedule is not out for that time of year? Any websites I can look at?

The only one I can see right now in the area is Denver.

Thanks for any and all help.

Is there a west coast dry spell between June 1 - Mid June or am I just not seeing anything?

There is the http://abqcomicexpo.com/ June 8th - 10th

and the http://www.denvercomiccon.com/ June 15th - 17th

and the http://www.texascomicon.com/ June 22 - 24th

http://www.geekcal.com shows all the current conventions

Part of the "dry spell" in June cons in the West has to do with established shows like Wizard World Philly (June 1-3), Heroes Con (June 22-24) and Florida Super-con locking up talent from medium sized cons in the West. One day shows in the West will probably be announced by Jan or Feb for the June time period. July is usually quiet because no one wants to compete with comic con.

Albuquerque Denver and the Texas con will keep you busy anyway. :)

I thought about Texas... but its another 1600 miles from Phoenix but perhaps worth the trip since we are halfway there.

Albuquerque is a definite possibility, if I remember I drove from Vegas to Alb. in a day that could work the guys and my fiance want to hit up Vegas...

We are driving form Idaho to shows in the west, this is the plan for now. Were looking into getting an RV but for now I want to keep it within a reasonable 2 day drive. I made it from here to Mexico in 15 hours once... lol. Here to Vegas in 10 hours so I have a pretty wide range to work with.

I drove once from Florida to Idaho... that took MUCH longer than expected.

That's a long way to drive. Can't u just book some cheap tickets on Southwest months in advance? :)

While it's not in your window, I definitely recommend Emerald City in early April. If nothing else, any show in the Pacific Northwest will advertise at that show. The creators you can network with make this a key show for anyone in the industry, I think.

Jake,

I exhibit at the Phoenix Con each year as well as Long Beach. I will have three booths loaded for Phoenix but I have over 200,000 comics so PM me with any specifics and I will make sure I bring what I have. Last year the attendance was over 23,000 so buy your pass early (they shut the show down for a while on Saturday due to overcrowding).

See you in May- it will be here before we know it.

How cheap? Problem is there is 4 of us. Were looking into buying an RV, but were renting houses for now. My fiance is a master of vacation rentals.
