TOS 39 (AGAIN!)

Kev....I don't know the history of this book ....but it seriously seems like the right edge of the book has been trimmed.... crazy.gif

The cover is a little lose at the top staple and may be pulling to the left when pressed by the scanner.

Tough to grade.

7.5 without the problem.

Maybe 6.5 with it? confused-smiley-013.gif

I think you are right and it is trimmed.

I bet some Marvel chipping was taken off. blush.gif

Assuming no trimming, I would guess 6.5 (maybe a 7.0)

BUT:

If the top staple (or the bottom one) is pulled all the way through the cover, it probably will get a Qualified Grade.

How can you guys tell from a scan whether a book has been trimmed????

They CAN'T, just assumptions. The weird cut on the right side is not indicative of a trim, I've seen plenty of CGC universal books with strange cuts like that which were not trimmed.

Every TOS 39 I've ever seen, except maybe one or two, look just like that in terms of where the art cuts off, given where the spine fold is placed. Also, the staple pull is most likely the reason why the interior pages stick out so much.

I'm only assuming that it may be trimmed based these reasons:

[*] The left side of the cover is perfectly aligned based on the black strip as referance.

[*] The right side is cut on an angle in referance to the left side of the cover.

[*] The top right corner is very sharp.

I'm just guessing folks....and as I've said plenty of times....I ain't no expert... cool.gif

I'm just saying that it would scare me off buying this book raw if I was thinking aboiut it.

I was wondering about trimming because the RHS looks a bit TOO straight, considering all the other sides have wear.

As for the pencil marks, lots have them. The copy I had that was an 8.0 CGC had similar.

So, forgeting the trimming, whats the grade confused-smiley-013.gif
