Superman vs The Amazing Spider-man Treasury

DC meets Marvel in a gigantic super-sized edition!

Who did the cover to this one? I know it was Infantino layouts, and Supes looks like Neal Adams...but is it Ross Andru?

Ross Andru with Neal Adams ink assist on the cover

I got a chance to talk to Neal about this cover and he said he helped Andru a bit with

that superman. He said that the anatomy was off and he didn't want to ink it until it was correct.

That's one of the things I liked about Andru's art, his imperfections,

just how I like, in turn, Neal's art as a perfectionist.

What an awesome combo.

The other important factor with this book is the context of the times it was released. Inter company cross overs were virtually unheard of and most fans assumed that DC and Marvel were downright hostile to each other. This just seemed impossible at the time and as a seven year old my excitement over this was palpable.

The cover for this one had to be spectacular and for my money they nailed it. I loved this book 35 years ago and I still do. :cloud9:

Marvel Team-Up 38

Really, the Beast? Was this a nostalgia pick? I'm a bronze guy but this was a surprise.

Maybe some nostalgia but that book cracks me up everytime I read it. The constant one-liners between Spidey and the Beast just keep coming.

Ah, I'll check that out. Those two characters are often written with the snappy one-liner in mind. Same thing that made their stories so awesome I suppose.

I will always remember the artistry of Thor 380 whole page and double page scenes and the total domination of the destroyer in Thor 382. Simmonson at his best

Excellent choice, still my favorite issue of all-time. Here is a little sketch that is a prelude to that issue:

This is my pick for overall best comic book ever:

It has the whole package: a great cover, and incredible stories and art by Al Feldstein and Wood, Crandall, and Kamen. Now I need to get an original copy!
