8.5. A few creases and wear near the bottom corner where the color is rubbed off. Odd staple placement but I don't think that affects grade.

I'd say 8.5 also. Creases toward the bottom of the right edge of the front cover, and also missing color on the spine. Is it a spine crease that is CB, or a color rub?

I'm trying to assess what books in my collection would be good candidates for pressing? Would this book be a good choice as far as defects go?

8.0-8.5...depends on what the spine looks like in hand, especially that large tic near the bottom...

And you would feel even more jaded if this one were to come back 9.0/9.2. At least that's how I feel when I see a 9.4 with significant spine stress, and I get a 9.0 with a near perfect spine.
