What model scanner are you using? Mine are always hopelessly out of focus and I have to resort to cameras.

i actually first tried to scan with my mustek, but the picture was also out of focus. i am sure there is a way to focus, but i did not have the time.

 

so i used my konica color copier here in the office, you can also scan with that machine and it right away was a clear scan....
