D is for Devil-Dog Dugan - Yes, Stan's love of alliteration goes back a while -

Great choice -- and Stan's not the only comics writer who loves alliteration (going back to Clark Kent, Lois Lane and plenty of earlier strip examples like Krazy Kat). That's why hunting for the double and triple letter examples is fun.

D is for Donald Duck

My favorite issue of Walt Disney's Comics and Stories -- my own copy!

Nice enough to admire, rough enough to scan.

My favorite Donald Duck page -- Duckmite and the discovery of methylene!

The methylene story

Very tough to adjust the balance on that scan.

That's a very unusual color scheme for the page but, somehow, it seems to work with Guardineer's art. (thumbs u

D is also for Dan Hastings (by Guardineer, AMF 2/5)...

(with a Keen Detective peeping out from behind)
