Big Apple comic con?

6 posts in this topic

Mike Carbo's New York Comic Book Marketplace (http://www.nycbm.com) is not the same event at Wizard's Big Apple, but it is run by the guy who created Big Apple and ran it for 12 years until he sold it to Wizard. I can't say for sure why Wizard has not yet announced a date for 2012 and has dropped the Big Apple logo from their listing of cons.

NYCBM has much the same flavor as a mid-period Big Apple (ca. 2002 - 2004) with the tons of guests and regular line-up of dealers. It's still in the Penn Plaza Pavilion, still has much of the same staff, so it operates much like the pre-Wizard Big Apple.

But for all legal purposes, it is not the Big Apple Convention.

Last year I believe they sent everyone and their great grandmother free tickets to Big Apple Comic Con. I walked over there and my name was on a list...

I have yet to receive an email regarding a return visit to this show...
