Can anyone share a scan of what a trimmed book looks like?

11 posts in this topic

I have a copy of Wolverine limited series that has driven me insane.

The bottom cover slopes slightly upwards. But now I've noticed from looking at he back cover that this may have been a printing error as the advertisement is off center and has extra space on top. Will post scans when I have the chance but If anyone can share a pic of trimmed books it would be appreciated!

Thank you, So trimming is the "art" of straitening out corners/edges?

it's just chopping off an edge due to marvel chipping or some other wear to "improve" the comic's grade. sometimes it's obvious, sometimes it takes the good folks at CGC to detect it, and sometimes even they miss it if it's done well enough.

It's hard, if not impossible, to tell if a book has been trimmed from just a scan unless you have before and after scans of a trim job.

It's actually hard to tell even if a book is held in hand.

Some books age differently than others and can have an edge that looks trimmed but can in fact be untrimmed in reality.

Remember, most comics were trimmed when they were new...that means all books were trimmed at one point.

Also, some books are just cut poorly during the manufacturing process (comics were junk books made for kids and produced on cheap machinery, remember) and can also look trimmed when in fact they aren't.

I find that the more fresh a book looks, the closer the page edges all line up.

The only real way to tell if a book is trimmed is with a trained eye examining a book up close and in hand and possibly before and after scans (if they exist).
