BIG fan of the EPSON Photo line.

scanner.gif Scanners :cloud9:

I have both the micortek i700 and an epson v30, I use the microtek for slabs and the epson for raws or anything smaller than a slab. They both do a good job, but when it comes to speed the newer epson is faster and you can pick them up for around $60 delivered. The v30 will scan a comic or mag in about 9 seconds at 96 dpi and doesn't have to warm up.

Epson make terrific scanners but they are on the pricey side from what I remember.

Some HP and Microtek models are also good but I think you need to be wary of which models you choose. Some will not penetrate the slab well and some leave more glare than others.

There's a scanner thread here with a bunch of legal size scanner examples.

I could be wrong but I think that white line is there because the moving scanner parts rub on the glass (from the underside) as it runs up and down it's track during a scan and eventually creates a line on the glass that shows up in the scans.

Taking the scanner apart and cleaning the glass from the inside might take care of it (I don't know if it's a scratch on the glass or just a residue line from the moving parts) but it might be just as easy to just get a new scanner for a few hundred bucks.

That's OK Bob, we all know you're old.

Although he is filling in that beard quite nicely.

Beard? I thought that was powdered sugar from a jelly donut.

Why would you dig out the thesaurus? Wouldn't a dictionary be more appropriate? hm

Technically, a thesaurus is a dictionary:

the·sau·rus[thi-sawr-uhs]

noun, plural the·sau·rus·es, the·sau·ri  [-sawr-ahy]

1. a dictionary of synonyms and antonyms
