A Rawhide Kid #141 35 center just went for $505.00!!! on ebay in what appears to be a GD/VG copy based on the sellers description of the book!.

Here's something new - I think this is a "Random House" edition, but am not sure where it was sold.

It was a special book club edition available to members of the RH book club. I read about it in one of those "ask the answer man" columns that ran in DC comics way back when.

Man I need to get caught up I stopped reading this thread about 70 man I am behind. Sup all long time on see.

I watched that pretty closely, I bid at 420.00 with 15 seconds left, thought I actually had a shot . !!

Without a doubt one of the hardest to find I think only one on the census and maybe 3 known total?

The seller had no clue the rarity so his listing was vague.Some Dork tipped him off.

He updated the listing generated some interest so me and a few others couldnt steal a deal!!

 

so, here is the real story. I saw the book right after it was listed. lucky timing, I guess. I bid, as I usually do. Then I sent an email where I told the seller that I had one, but was asking if he had any more variants besides the defenders that he had listed.

 

the seller wrote me back and told me he had recieved a large offer for the book, and since I already have one, would I mind if he took that offer. I then told him the sales prices of the last two copies to show up on ebay, and their grades. Then I blogged about the book at variantmafia.com.

 

I guess that makes me the dork, because the seller chose to put up bigger scans.

Been on ebay since 1998, chasing variants since November of 2002, and after a lot of stalking, false leads, badly pictured lots taken gambled on and lost, here is my first hidden Western 35 center won:

I regret to this day not buying the X-men collection of 35 centers in Ohio.

 

Terry, Harry and Carl all know the seller I am talking about. Some of the nicest 35 centers I have ever seen to this day. No westerns or horror, but a ton of super hero. I watched them all go to buyer in Canada for about $2k who still to this day doenst know what they have. (95-160 or so as a lot.)

 

That one will haunt me for years and I dont even actively search right now.
