As I mentioned before - indicia is identical in both versions of the Secret Invasion Saga.

But where's the scan of this "second copy"? I only saw the newsstand one, not the correctly-priced Direct version, which does not make it a price variant (since the covers are different) no matter what the indicia says.

So, is there an actual regular-priced Direct copy to make this $0.00 copy a price variant? (shrug)

Ok - I know this isn't a Bronze-Age price variant

So you did know you're in the wrong forum. doh!doh!:tonofbricks:

I posted both books, Vince! Pay attention!

And please - is there another price variant forum better than this one? Modern price variants have been discussed here before. Keep up - are you intentionally being an arse today?

So I don't really collect BA much any more, but a few years back I picked up several raw 30 cent variants after hearing about them here. The recent price hike for submitting 1975-80 books finally got me to dig them out and send them in.

x-men 423 is like that. meaning the indicia says 2.25 per copy, making the common blowout 25 cent issue the price variant.

as far as the FF60 goes, the newsstand version is really a price variant according to the indicia.

the newsstand versions are much more difficult to locate. I have been searching for a Namor 1 newsstand for years, and doubt it exists...

I am positive the Namor 1 was only distributed as the 25 cent book.

Since STL is down currently last time I check. I will post a brief convention report.

Found my first 2 35 cent variants in 1 year this afternoon. I have only found one since that monster X-men find last year or so. There is still nothing as exciting in comics as finding these. Just dont tell Terry I found them in his "backyard". :gossip:I will post scans later both look about Fine I think.

Here's another Gold Key price variant. Similar to the Tarzan which was dated July 1968, this Ripley's is dated August 1968.

Besides the price, all else is identical.

I agree that price is a bit stiff but that is a ridiculously tough book, especially given the demand. Are there any other bronze-age beaters that would command that price? Along with Star Wars 1, the Iron Fist 14 35 cent price variant has been known the longest. It is a key book and too date after years of searching, there are still only 24 price variants certified (compared to 1456 of the regular issue).

According to GPA and my STLcomics price variant mafia notes of sales of that issue, here is EVERY CGC sale of that book. Since CGC started, the book has never been cheap and Overstreet has never really had a full grip on price variant prices. In my opinion, the best deal recently was the 7.0 that sold in April on ComicLink for $1100 and is not on the CGC census.

As you can see, I don't think that this book will ever be cheap.

2.5 sold in Jan 2009 for $475.

3.5 sold in May 2008 for $351.

3.5 sold in May 2009 for $400.

6.0 sold in Nov 2003 for $345.

6.0 sold in Mar 2006 for $735.

7.0 sold in Jan 2004 for $1100. (different book than ComicLink sale)

7.5 sold in Jun 2004 for $1025.

7.5 sold in Apr 2005 for $1325.

8.0 sold in Jan 2005 for $1225.

8.0 sold in Oct 2006 for $600 (bargain).

8.0 sold in Oct 2008 for $1729.

8.5 sold in Feb 2005 for $1601.

9.0 sold in Jun 2004 for $1100.

9.0 sold in Sep 2007 for $1975.

9.0 sold in Nov 2007 for $2500. (private treaty sale not in GPA)

9.2 sold in Jul 2002 for $1500.

9.2 sold in Oct 2008 for $4100.

9.4 sold in Sep 2006 for $5100. (this is still the one and only highest graded on the census, followed by three 9.2s and two 9.0s)

By the way, for those interested in the issue, Ebay seller Giraffemaster has a 5.0 listed on at a reasonable BIN and is taking offers.

8.0 sold in Oct 2006 for $600 (bargain).

I sold this one on comiclink and it was clearly a gift grade with multiple, though tiny, spine lines and a significant skuff just over the 35 cent price itself. Still a bargain as I had it listed at $900 for quite a while and $600 was the best offer I got. I'd imagine it'd sell for higher today but wouldn't break the $1000 mark or maybe not even get close.

I put four 30 cent variants in the Nik Auction. This is for a great cause so bid them up like it was 2004. :)

If anyone wins at least three of the four I'll throw in a free raw mystery 30 cent variant. (thumbs u

Jim,

I just don't think that is the case since I don't see any other 15 cent Gold Key's other than July 1968. Granted I haven't researched it hard core but out of a lot of 200 Gold keys these two were the only 15 cent copies. And it happens that August 1968 is 15 cent seems awfully coincidental.

Still, I'm willing to be convinced if I see other 15 centers like this.

I don't know for sure either...just remember some eBay seller awhile back had a couple of these and called them Canadian variants...

Here's an example of Whitman Error Price Variants from 1/81, still sealed in original bag. Most copies of Super Goof 63, WDCS 484 and Bugs 223 have 50 cent covers, not 40 cents like the ones in this bagged set. Not Canadian Variants as once believed.
