What is the "A" on the upper right of the back of the Slab?

If I had to guess, I would say it just has something to do with production of the case (or the molding process).

I believe it is case type.

example: Type A = modern comics.

Type B = silver, etc. ??

It's the size reference for the inner wells.

 

I believe your inner well was used backwards. The letter is usually hidden by the CGC hologram sticker.

So I just checked some more slabs, and all the "pocket" slabs have letters on them. It's got to be the size. I found letters A, I, O, B, and N just checking one short box. I held a few up next to each other and the pockets were slightly different in size.

 

I was wrong about being backwards. Not all of them were in the front. The letter "A" slabs I found were all like yours, with the "A" in the back and were not backwards.
