I thought Die Another Day was the best Bond movie in decades.

Rick Yune (the guy who played the villain with the diamond-encrusted face) was my classmate at Wharton. shocked.gif

I also heard they may be looking at Jude Law as a replacement, but then again it could all be Hollywood rumors.

i heard they want orlando bloom gossip.gif

Out of all the articles I have read talking about new Bonds I think Hugh Jackman was the best out of the bunch to be named...even though he's Aussie and not English. I wouldn't have a problem with him being Bond especially when compared to the other names mentioned.

I'm a huge fan of the James Bond films (and books) and can even say that they have had a big impact on my life.

blush.gif Do you own a Walther PPK? or at least the box DVD set?

27_laughing.gif No Walther PPK, but I do own all 3 volumes of the boxed set. I even recently purchased "The Complete James Bond Lifestyle Seminar" book and audiotape set on Amazon. I'd highly recommend it. blush.gif And, almost all my book reports in the sixth grade were on Ian Fleming's original James Bond novels...I was indoctrinated into Bond at a very young age!

I agree that Hugh Jackman would be a much better choice than the other choices offered (remember, George Lazenby was also Australian and pulled off a respectable Bond in OHMSS), though I still think there is a better choice out there somewhere (even if it is an unknown actor).

I actually did contemplate adding that to the list, but I thought too many people would vote for it as a joke.

Brosnan does a good job as Bond, but I must say they should have tried to stay British. But then again, if Jude Law is the only option, then I'd have to say that Schwartzenegger is a better choice 27_laughing.gif

Really, IMHO they should have ended the franchise after Roger Moore left the role. Dalton and Brosnan have been pale shadows of their predecesors, as have the recent scripts. The franchise is looking increasingly tired and dated.

Hey, only kiddin about Arnie, but Jude Law rattles my cage BIG TIME!

As for your story, I'll probably get flamed, but what the hell. I hated Roger Moore! He should never have happened. The Storylines were much better than now, so he carried it well.

I know special effects are what make a Bond film, but they go too far nowadays (as with most films!). I'm surpirsed they are not full of 893censored-thumb.gif words, everything else is 893frustrated.gif

I am frankly surprised that three other people voted for OHMSS... 893whatthe.gif

It's my choice as best Bond film mostly because it's as close to the original Ian Fleming books as any of the films ever came.

I read an interesting piece a couple years back describing James Bond as the 2nd most developed fictional character in history, and I don't know that I disagree with the description. The Bond of the novels is very different from the one in recent films, but that's to be expected given how long it's been since Ian was publishing. After a time, the filmmakers feel more responsibility to be consistent with the most recent films rather than with the novels. A James Bond straight out of an Ian Fleming novel and onto the screen today would likely not do well at all, given that today's Bond fans have never read the books. Heck most of them haven't even seen the Connery films... foreheadslap.gif

"Connery? Who's that? He wasn't in the PS2 game..." confused-smiley-013.gifforeheadslap.gif

I cannot even believe Moonraker is in second place. 893whatthe.gif

Seriously...I think it's one of the weakest films in the franchise along with Diamonds are Forever, A View to a Kill, Licence to Kill and The World Is Not Enough.

I can't believe how little love the classics Dr. No and From Russia With Love are getting... frown.gif

I liked Moonraker (and voted for it!) The thing that made the movie was Jaws, Bonds best enemy! thumbsup2.gif
