Mac Man's Comic Reviews!

57 posts in this topic

I recently began writing comic reviews for a pop culture website: Kaboooom! Due to a million professional obligations going on right now (not to mention my wife and two little guys), I've been confining myself to writing just two reviews each month. Currently, I'm reading Dark Horse's Conan the Barbarian, which is retelling R.E. Howard's "The Queen of the Black Coast" story. I'm also reviewing another new series from Dark Horse called "Alabaster & Wolves."

Once things begin to settle down a bit, I'll probably begin doing reviews of the New 52 Batman and Marvel's Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man vol. 2.

Additionally, I often write some more critical articles for Sequart.com. It's a fun deal where I can do my reviews of comics from a literary perspective. But I thought I'd start a thread where I could post links to my reviews and articles all in one place since I know there are a few comic fans here ;)

So, without further delay, here are the reviews!

Hey guys!

There's a new article I wrote for Sequart that just posted today. Its about modern day anti-heroes, and it touches upon Ed Brubaker's "Incognito" (great series if you haven't read it already). It's a short but hopefully interesting read!

Thanks for checking it out!

Hey guys! My latest article is out for Sequart! For my final grad course this summer, I had to read manga for the first time... needless to say, this first one wasn't exactly to my liking--though I'm sure it's a perfectly solid book for those who like this sort of comic. And I apologize for the occasional typo in this one. Admittedly, I rushed my proofing a bit. It happens to the best of us, right?

Anyhow, I hope you enjoy the read!

Wolves

Written and Art by Becky Cloonan

For those of you who remember when comics weren't so expensive but were still solid reads, try this $0.99 digital comic by an up and coming creator. It's a really solid book and worth checking out!
