toy shows

21 posts in this topic

Toy shows can be hit and miss for vintage lines. If the shows aren't too out of your way, I'd say try a few of them - it can't hurt.

One observation I've made is that AFA graded stuff is rarely if ever found at toy shows. It's as if the plastic intimidates buyers.

More ungraded loose/carded/boxed stuff, and the prices can get wacky and you really have to know your stuff. You're far better off just knocking-off bigger purchases through online marketplaces (RS) or eBay.

Also, the RS boards have a virtual toy comicon (VTC) coming-up. I organized and ran the first show earlier this year and it was pretty neat. Next one will be sometime in July/August.

Google notes it as harmful too.

What does the site/link have to do with the OP's question, and why post it if its potentially harmful?

When I went to the site you noted in your post (forum.rebelscum) it came up on my browser?? (forum.rebelscum contains content from ruethedayblog, a site know to distribute malware.....from McAfee)

I have no idea how you got that link from the link share to the RS VTC hall thread. I'm on RS daily and have never seen that blog mentioned or named in any of their ads or site content.

Does anyone else see what he's saying?

BTW: I didn't click your last link as I'm on my mobile - test it from the first link I shared in my previous reply

I'm getting it with Chrome? After checking again.....I think it's Google giving the message and not McAfee

No offense, but I think there may be something wrong on your end as I'm not able to simulate what you are suggesting is happening with the link.

From what I am interpreting is happening from your explanation, you are being redirected to another site, but I see no indication of this happening and have tested the link on several machines, browsers and ran it through a few different link checking resources.

It might well be some adware/malware on your computer.

In any case, I just want to emphasize that the RS boards are a trusted online site and as safe (and saner) than these boards to visit.

Whisp, I caught your ad. You should try posting them in the RS marketplace in a FS/FT thread. There are quite a few guys there that collect Joe's as well so you might want to give that a try. I think the lot of figures would do well especially if they are all complete and original owner.

My ad on kijiji?

I am pretty much a face to face trader now. To many issues thru the mail. I always have bad luck dealing online be it joes, comics or whatever and I dont have very good patience to deal with it.

Yeah, I spotted it yesterday. I understand. Just thought I'd offer to help as you don't always come across well taken care of original owner figure lots. Most of them have been cobbled or assembled and unfortunately that introduces the risk of reproduction weapons/accessories.

Yeah it was a nice lot. I sorted it all for the person that bought it off the guy, sold a bit of it and then I bought all the stuff that was left in those pics for $70. Couple $40 figs and rest are $7-$15. Figured at that price I would have some good trade fodder for joes my primary focus for toys.

Only one figure has broken thumb, and my obi has broken sabre and the plastic cloak is ripped. Thought Boosk gun was broken but its not so no broken weapons actually and they have all there parts.

I was there when they where bought originally as well and all came from the same guy which the person that bought them knew the guy and he stated they where his childhood toys which I have no reason to not believe based off the collection.

Should do well on these.

I checked the page source and it's coming from a single image (booth babes area) member Joshua_A used in his booth. Thanks for noting it (even though you'll need to keep a long list of how many suspicious sources are posted whenever a thread is derailed with porn on these boards).

The image isn't linkable, and viewing it on your computer isn't going to cause any issues. It's a straight .JPG file which means there isn't any possibility for background scripts to cause havoc.

Direct linking to the website source Chrome is warning you about in your previous post might.
