Though I focus only on the war themed part of the run, I can personally attest to the difficulty of trying to find decent copies of this title. Its a bugger of a title to try and collect in anything approaching mid to high grade.

 

Yeah, just try and find a 23 or 25 in grade!

 

Which of these had the lamp shade story Dan?

 

 

23 is the lampshade story, did you keep yours? 25 is the decapitated head cover

Marvel Tales Lot (1950-57). Atlas’s flagship horror title which ran from issue #93 (Aug 1949) thru issue # 159 (Aug 1957). This lot consists of thirty-nine CGC-graded blue label books, one purple label comic, and four uncertified specimens. It includes twenty-four books from CGC-recognized pedigrees and nine additional books from one special original owner collection. From an original owner collection that came out of Petaluma, CA (once known as "The Egg Capital of the World”) in the mid-1990s. The collection included all manner of Atlas and DC fantasy/horror titles from the mid-1950s -- perhaps the very toughest period for the mid/high-grade collector. The books are characterized by bright cover inks and fresh pages. Unfortunately, they were stored in a barn/hen-house, and many of the books have light moisture staining to one/two corners/edges of the back cover. As a result, most of the books fall into the VG/FN to VF/NM range. Very pretty books though, if you can get past the back cover tide lines and occasional rodent chew.
