that is a cool top 5 dc list for sure! I like GL1, JLA1 as well (first book titles along with the Flash 105).....and I think Action 242 serves a seat too.....

FF 5 not being on the list is criminal given that he is the biggest Marvel villain and the inspiration for one of the very best movie villains of all time.

Don't get me wrong, FF; I'd live without Amazing Fantasy #15 before I went without a Fantastic Four #5. It just didn't meet my list's criteria.

 

And Roulette, I love and own JLA and GL #1s, too. I give Flash 105 an edge because it marks the first time that D.C. committed to an on-going, monthly superhero title that did not rely on the Superman/Batman guaranteed draw or the safety of an anthology. Flash 105 is a major cornerstone of the Silver Age.

ST 135 - Marvel's answer to James Bond. It's a soft call, but I've always preferred that book to Sgt. Fury 1.

 

I've apparently been nerdy enough in my enthusiasm for Strange Tales #135 to make a lasting impression on a local dealer or two. It's a personal favorite. Ditko and Kirby each doing a strip in the same book makes those issues of ST (114,120,135-146) really sing. 135 is the stand-out, tho.
