Nice!

Two of the more rare and expensive ones out there (worship)

Thats true but are the entire books reprinted? Didnt those issues have other back up stories in them?

Yes there were, Sub-Mariner being one of them. IIRC each issue had two HT stories at 16 or 18 pages each, which (I assume) is what's reprinted in the Masterworks editions

The Thor JIM (Kirby cover) still eludes me.

I have ASM 1 & 2, ToS Iron Man 1, Hulk, Captain America, FF 1 and Avengers (all classic covers).

Still waiting for Sgt Fury, Dr Strange and Daredevil.

Nice! Unfortunately, most of mine are the crappo new covers :sorry:

I've never even seen a pic of the Dr.Strange or Sgt Fury so i assume those ones are pretty pricey?

Oops, I meant I'm still waiting for Marvel to release those 3. Don't know what's keeping them.

I thought they had Daredevil (shrug)

Which Daredevil are you talking about?

I'm not a Dr Strange fan so I wouldn't get that but I'll definitely get Sgt Fury when that comes out :cloud9:

They have Daredevil Omnibi for the Bendis, Brubaker & Miller runs. At least I think they are considered that.

There is no Omnibus for Daredevil starting with issue 1.....yet.

Yes, you are right. Except of the second Bendis Omnibus, all of the others goes for very high money.

I have to add that there is a big difference between the Marvel and DC Omnibus. I have several of both and with the Marvel ones you take much more value for your money. They are bigger and with better paper quality, although some readers complain about the glossy pages. Also Marvel use sewn binding and DC glued them.

its funny, cause its not that big of a mark up, only 2 to 5 times cover but when the cover is so expensive, thats huge

thats nothing... I've seen some $.12 comics sell for like a billion times cover!

I remember the conversation I had in 2008 with one specialist archival hardcover seller at a convention.  I was looking for a copy of the FF Vol 2 variant edition, which he had a sealed copy of in superb condition for cover price, eventually getting it for $65 in a third-off deal. At the time I'd seen copies offered for sale around the $200 mark -here in the UK, at least.

He pointed out that the first prints of FF Volume 1 and Uncanny X-Men Volume 1 had been going for $300 + until the new print appeared, but were now back to cover price.  Same risk with all of the gouging you see on Ebay and Amazon. If you can't wait and decide to capitulate to the 'Ah well, what if they don't get reprinted?'  uncertainty play/ high pressure sales pitch, well, that's up to you.

This is something that the Masterworks message boards find to be a source of constant amusement.

This same scenario (out of print books going back to print) scares me away from paying big bucks too...

Right now the ASM Vol 1 is out of print and going for over retail online. With the new movie coming out I'm sure there will be a new solicit for a reprinting soon.

Some of the non "core" volumes I could imaging being 1 printing and done (Howard the Duck, Tomb of Dracula, etc). But even with those I play the waiting game and wait for someone (who doesn't know the scarcity) to list one on ebay or elsewhere for a retail or lower price.

I wonder what the effect of having OOP material available in lower forms i.e. OOP Hardcovers, but available TPBs) does to the higher priced (over retail) books...

The type of volumes where buying OOP is safer is when the content is in litigation limbo of some kind. Miracleman TPBs and HCs are a safe bet. As would be any reprint versions of ROM (if there were any).

I dont know enough about them to know, are you saying that they are going to reprint the impossible to find ones? if so, do you know when? I've been trying to find the GS Xmen cover one for like 6 months and the cheapest ive seen it for is like $450 :o

Someone earlier said the print runs for these were like 1000-1500, do you know if thats correct? It seems like most of them are very readily available. The FF volume 1 i see everywhere so it definitely seems like there has to be more than 1500 of them floating around (shrug)

Fairly bad luck / timing.

Two years ago, at the LCS, I was offered another sealed copy of the Uncanny X-Men Volume 1 Omnibus for £40, around $60.  I didn't turn it down.

Who knows if the BA material like Howard The Duck and Tomb of Dracula will ever be reprinted?  I can wait.

It is possible that the Omnibus remasters were reused in, for example, the TOD trade paperbacks.  I haven't checked that out, though.

Uncanny X-men Omnibus is the one that I've had to fight the urge to buy many times (at over retail)... I just cant imagine that this will stay out of print forever. Maybe it'll be 3-4 years, I'll wait. Plenty of other books to read/collect for now...

Also causing me to hold of is that Uncanny X-men Omni was one of the earlier Omnis (after FF Vol 1, but before ASM) and Marvel was still working out the binding kinks with these large volumes...

Is there a list anywhere of all the Omni's?

Is there a Deathlok?

TOD?

Bronze Avengers between 100 and 150

Iron Man between 70 and 100 or 110 and 150?

Marvel Team-Up?

I Havent seen a list but im pretty sure they dont have any of those except for Tomb of Dracula. I know i've seen volume 1 online and my LCS has Volume 3 so i assume there also has to be a volume 2 but i havent seen it.

I've never seen a later volume of Avengers or Iron Man. Come to think of it, other than Xmen, FF and ASM, i dont think any of the other main titles have a volume 2 for SA material (shrug)

Actually, i guess there is a list

an amazon search of Marvel omnibus should turn up the full list.

Deathlok no

Tomb of Dracula has 3 volumes, but the first two are hard to find

Iron Man yes, but not up to the numbers you list (just 1-25 of the Colan run)

Avengers, just 1 volume (ish 1-30)

Marvel Team Up> nope.

Awesome, thanks. Man, I would love to get some of those.

Some are head-scratchers. Devil Dinosaur? Evolutionary War? Secret Warriors?

But no Deathlok???
