Another series I enjoyed collecting was Briefer's "FRANKENSTEIN".

I still have #1 through #6 and #9...can't remember if I ever bought

#7 and #8.

I have a few but I tend to buy Prize instead because of the Black Owl.

However, I did make this gif.

Marty,

Having had a chance to look more closely through your books, do you still think that Superboy 1 and Flash 104 are the top two books in your collection?

I would have to say that as far as my collection goes, SUPERBOY #1 and

FLASH COMICS #104 are still my top ones...but as Jimbo mentioned,

STUNTMAN #1 & #2 are still my favorites...but then since I've had this

collection for so many years, I would have to say they're all my favorites.

I might have missed this, but how many books do you have? I think my childhood collection (long gone, alas) was about 400.

I think I had originally estimated around 350...but in going through them

to scan it appears more like 500+...I'll get an actual count sooner or later.

Only have one HIT COMIC in my collection but I'm sure it was

the cover that made me pick it up off the newsstand.

I remember seeing the first EC's on the newsstand and realizing

that they were different...besides a lot of them had stories by RAY

BRADBURY and that was enough for me to buy them. Many of the

EC's I picked up were remainder copies for 5 cents each.

This was one of my first...

Love that book. One of my favorite EC comics :applause:

So agree! I have a coverless copy of it. One day will get a proper copy with cover to go with. :)

Part of the fun I had buying comics was looking for first issues and

offbeat characters...here's one that is both.

You must have so many wonderful memories embedded in these books. Thanks for giving us the chance to imagine what it might have been like to pick them up at the newsstand or grocery store back then.

Thank you for letting me share them with you and recalling

the fun I had buying them, reading them and re-reading them...

putting them away for years and now bringing them back into the

daylight...thanks!

When I was a kid, the primary source of entertainment was the twice-a-

week movie, reading and listening to the radio. It was always a source

of enjoyment when I found on the newsstand a comic book featuring one

of my favorite radio characters like The SHADOW...The GREEN HORNET,

The LONE RANGER, CAPTAIN MIDNIGHT, SUPERMAN and others like:

I was also surprised to find on the newsstand one of my favorite Saturday

Morning programs.

I think I still have one of those in the EC box.

I have never listened to the show on the radio but I used to watch it on TV.

I remember how surprised I was when I heard on the GREEN HORNET radio

program that he was related to The LONE RANGER. This was the first cross-

over I ever heard...later I remember BATMAN and ROBIN showing up on the

SUPERMAN program.

Even though I have quite a few LOONEY TUNES & MERRIE MELODIES

COMICS...this is the only all BUGS BUNNY COMIC I have in my collection.

Again, this was an other one bought off the rack at W.T. GRANTS.

That is a popular Green Hornet cover. I like some of the early Lone Ranger covers a little better.

I used to listen to the Lone Ranger on KMOX St. Louis and occasionally WXYZ Detroit (rebroadcast), I think. However, The Shadow is still my favorite old time radio program. I heard the crossover Batman radio program while driving to New York on a Sunday evening. Didn't catch the ending, unfortunately. Anyone know the date of the original Superman radio program? I might be able to find it in my radio program files. The first Superman radio program was fun to listen to.
