I think we see the full evolution of the sentinels in the movie. Starting with Nimrod and going back in time to their origins, when they were just Roombas.

I have a feeling this was a character movie rights move that was extremely rushed in order to claim Quicksilver. But now with these results, Fox should just bow out with a "not sure what we were thinking" apology and let Avengers 2 take it from here.
