Those ol' Turnaround Time Blues

96 posts in this topic

So, for Economy books, CGC is shipping books received on 3/3.

That's about 4 months in the past.

My ballpark estimate (from watching for the last few months) is that

CGC advances at about 1/2 "real time" speed.

In other words, in 4 weeks of real time, the "shipping books received on"

date advances about 2 week.

Sooooo...(takes off shoes and socks so I can count on my toes) ...

That means that for books I submit now (and what a coincidence, I _am_

getting ready to submit some books), it's going to take roughly 8 MONTHS

until they come back.

That's Feb of 2005. 2005. Sheesh. What a dismal prospect.

So what does the "holding area" at CGC's building look like? I'm thinking it

must be similar to the warehouse scene at the end of the Indiana Jones movie.

Packages piled as far as the eye can see!

Everyone's a critic! I know it's been beat to death, but that was when

other folks were submitting books. But now it's ME! ME ME ME!!

"But enough about me, let's talk about you. What do YOU think of me?"

According to the last update.....Standard service turnaround is down to 25 business days from 31 earlier in the month. It's now closer to the advertised turnaround than it is to the advertised Economy turnaround.

Progress. thumbsup2.gif

Economy is still lagging.

I'm working on it. crazy.gif

I have been here everyday for at least 9 hours a day for the last 3 day instead of taking the long weekend off frown.gif (But only because my daughter is out of town at Grandma's. If she was here, I would be spending part of the time with her, she is a little more important than comics, you know grin.gif)

Look for better turn times posted on Tuesday evening thumbsup2.gif

Thanks for the effort (and no sarcasm intended). I'm sure you folks work hard.

But that's besides the point.

Doesn't the fact that you're _having_ to work on a holiday, to play catch-up,

tell you something?

It's like the old saying "the harder I work the behinder I get." It's clear that

the work flow at CGC is stretched, and simply working harder CAN'T

fix it. As your post emphasizes, I suspect that you guys are already

working about as hard as you possibly can.

So the good news is that you offer a popular/useful service. But the bad news

is that the ridiculous (IMO) turnaround times create unhappy customers.
