The book was from a warehouse find.

Since there is an 8c sticker they must have tried to discount the price before returning the romance books for a few decades.

Basically what is the top grade that you can have a Sticker like this on a book?

New at this but 7 seems to be the top grade that mentions store stamps (price labels included)

F/VF 7.0 - Moderate reduction of cover reflectivity - minor creases allowed, minor foxing, interior cover yellowing, date stamps - initials - and store stamps are allowed, Slight rust migration allowed, Blunted corners, minor margin tears on interior pages allowed -- More and deeper stress lines allowed

Actually in My OverStreet Grading Guide 2nd edition it says you can have arrival dates ink or stamped in 9.9 if they are unobtrusive, and a store stamp is mentioned in 8.0

how do you get to a 6.5 on a tight flat book that has no creases no spine damage and only blunted edges?

9.9??

Don't you mean 9.8?

MT 10.0 - ABSOLUTLY PERFECT - HAS NOT ONE SINGLE FLAW

MT 9.9 - Only 1 very very subtle Bindery defect allowed

NM/MT 9.8 - Only minor imperfections (such as an almost unnoticable interior page tear (under 1/32 of an inch) or a small inconspicuous date stamp (must be very well hidden almost unnoticable
