Passport Comics and Earl Bowman in NOrth Hollywood
jmg3637 replied to Stevenrams's topic in Comics General
I am pretty sure that Earl died a while back. I met with a guy many years ago who had several thousand comics in a storage locker in North Hollywood, not too far from the location of Passport. He had boxes of worthless books , that had clearly been picked over. He told me that this was the stock from a closed LCS and several of the boxes had identification from Passport. Earl helped me get back into comics when I lived close to his store in the mid to late 80's I always enjoyed his mimeograph Newsletters as well as talking comics with him Jim -

I had a poster on my bedroom wall as a kid. It was was the members of the music group The Turtles in comicbook style as the Fantastic Four. It might have come in the album Turtles Present the Battle of the Bands. I have searched the internet several times with no luck. Has anybody else seen it?

Awesome accomplishment. Looking forward to seeing the full run in one place. Even as a long time collector, I have never seen most of these previously -

I have bout 20 of each the marvel and the DC stamps sets. Have one of each framed and on display in my office I started collecting coins in the early 60's when you could still occasionally find mercury dimes and even Indian head pennies in change

Hate it when my tracking information is not up to date. The Four Color 21 from above was purchased from MCS but when putting everything together ( starting with First Series ) I realized that I had long ago traded for a much nicer graded 3.5 from A-1 comics just had not entered it correctly., so straight into the for sale/trade box It looks like I am only missing 4 5 7 and 15 from the entire First series. Over the last year or two I filed several holes including 6,12 18 as well as the 22 above from the excellent inventory system of MCS -

building out my second comic closet, for my permanent collection. First one consists of two walls worth of long drawer boxes of just DC post silver age to where I stopped collecting/reading new at the beginning of Pandemic. about 45 boxes so 10K ish Second closet will house my marvels, gold silver DC,s, Classics, Gold Keys as well as finally curated all of my Four Colors together and accesable. I am guessing it has been at least a year, maybe two since I filled anything other than the now 3 boxes of graded four colors Finding small piles of four colors all around and want to be sur etey are all scanned prior to filing. Most of the ones I am scanning now I am not even rebagging into Milites as they are going straight into the two small gray BCE boxes of "replaceable books" I believe my criteria for those was 3.5 and under and lower priced. For some reason I cannot upload images now. I am guessing that my home wifi sometimes cannot support the bandwidth at the distance. I think the spectrum guy told me we had like 18 devices using it. 10th try after restoring draft they uploaded Main four color is 6 of the gray short boxes and 4 Drawer boxes. -

Wow is that an old article. Almost 30 year. Flipside, which was my main LCS for new books until the pandemic, sold out and closed over a year ago. Collectors dream (den) was a store I traded with for years until his attitude caused him to lose his lease. I did a long term trade and cash deal for an Xmen #1. When I eventually submitted the book to CGC it came back an 8.5 RESTORED. By then the store had closed. When I ran into Mike and mentioned the undisclosed restoration, his response was "You can't PROVE that I sold you that book", and then rapidly walked away. JUST A CROOK IMHO My first LCS in the valley was passport and Earle Bowman. Sadly both have passed on.

Got a couple of very low grade Fist series issues They are 0.5 and 1.8 respectively, but I am very happy to have them fill early holes in my collection. With these two I am only missing 4 of the first series and 6 more of the second series below 41. I then have a solid run of 42-203jh
