Digital Comics and the LCS

What it brings up about Comixology is that I (and probably most of us) have been doing it wrong. We could have been helping our LCS even as the Digital Age of comics thunders in.

 

I've been buying comics via the iPad and Comixology's App. Apparently, you can support your local LCS by buying your digital comics through their BRANDED COMIXOLOGY Digital Storefront. The LCS gets 15% of the price as their "cut" while Comixology gets the other 15% as added profit. (This means that Apple doesn't get its 30% for hosting the in-house transaction.)

 

So your LCS may have a branded Comixology Digital Storefront. When you buy through their Storefront, they get part of the proceeds--- for a $2.99 comic, they receive about $.45 cents. This certainly adds up.

 

You can still go on the iPad and it will register your off-iPad purchases. (thumbs u

 

(The loser here is Apple... but you have to weigh the value of helping keep your LCS alive even as you transition to Digital Comics versus having that 15-30% go to Apple.)

That's sounds great! Is there a link you could provide to allow me to search for my local LCS? I hunted everywhere to find a Digital Storefront search tab, but couldn't find one.
