Mark Millar given the "Joss Whedon" role over Fox's Marvel Movies?

I don't know if I like this idea (shrug)

Millar has been a hit or miss on comic books lately.

What were the hits and what were the misses?

Either way it's the law of diminishing returns. Millar just isn't that talented a writer, and lacks Whedon's ability to flesh out and humanize characters.

Then again he has done incredibly well for himself and has played the media game brilliantly.

Well, I guess he's not there to write the movies but as an overall organizer of the projects - better him than somebody who knows nothing about the comics.
