CAF update: Frenz & Rubinstein - unveiling Superman Blue !

9 posts in this topic

Hi all,

Today I've posted my first new art since March !

The piece is the final DPS of SUPERMAN #123:

I've admitted it a few times before in other places, and I'll do it again -

I like the Superman Blue costume design !

I'm happy to add to my collection the unveiling and 1ST full appearance

of the Superman Blue costume !

Though the costume was shown on the cover and powers have been building/

gathering through out the issue, this DPS show the final costume for the first

time in story, complete with the new, stylized S !

IMO, this piece is, by far, the best Superman artwork created by the Frenz/Rubinstein team.

Paying a nice homage to the final page of John Byrne's Man Of Steel #1.

I'd say that they actually improved upon Byrne's original (already detailed) backgrounds,

using the DPS format to full extant and adding even more detail and texture.

I'll try to add a better scan as I get the art, so you could enjoy it even better.

As always, comments are welcome and appreciated.

Thanks,

Gal

A very nice piece indeed and thanks for adding the published version. That is what I try to do in all my CAF images.

I had already posted my comments on that fantastic piece a week ago. I don't care if it's Superman Blue - it is still the legendary team of Frenz and Rubinstein.

Frenz should be next on my wantlist.

I've posted the piece on John Byrne's forum.

After all it is an homage to his classic Superman page and

the JB himself had an interesting insight to share about it.

I think it's worth reading/following (I don't think it's the end

of that discussion just yet):
