Those of you who know the health issues I’ve had the past 12+ months know I can not afford to let that happen.I have pulled a few originals I didn’t want to sell out of my personal collection along with a couple of repeat items which I’ve lowered the price on. COMBAT #256 (DC – Aug., 1983).In this page, on a special mission, the Haunted Tank crew comes across a downed enemy fighter in flames with its pilot being burned alive. Unable to plunge into that inferno to save the man, Jeb does the only humane thing and kills him with a gun shot. There was no other way, but he’ll live with that memory for the rest of his life. Great page with the ghostly General in the top two panels!

Featuring a beautiful full figure image of Bettie surrounded by a bevy of cross-dressers, their heads that is! A surreal and succulent image!Undated, art is signed with the artist’s initials, “MOC”. Original is in excellent condition and measures 13-1/2” x 19-1/2” with an image area of 10-1/2” x 14.” There is a little writing in pencil on the top and bottom margins.Chicago-based artist, Mitch O’Connell’s work has appeared everywhere from traditional comics by Charlton and DC to HEAVY METAL to "cutting edge" publications like DEADLINE and JUXTAPOZ. As they approach, Doc finds a chain hanging from a pole and uses it to whip them into shape! As he does so, his aide, Monk, accompanied by the Harbor Patrol come to the rescue and arrest the crooks! As Doc and Monk head for shore in a small boat, they discuss the clue Monk had sent Doc about the crooks / pirates which was three long and three short matchsticks. Monk was afraid he might think he’d been calling for help and not realized he’d spelled out the initials of the ship but he’d been foolish to worry…..after all he was dealing with Doc Savage! A great page and a rare example of Powell’s work on a classic pulp hero!When was the last time you saw a Golden Age Doc Savage comic book original for sale, they turn up rarely especially by Bob Powell, the best artist to work on the Street & Smith comic books along with Edd Cartier who did so briefly.Original measures 13” x 20-1/2” and is in Very Good condition for its age with minimal tanning, the page is very light colored. There are blue pencil notes written on the art to the colorist which should be viewable in the below scans. Lansdale / Andrew Vachss anthology entitled VEIL'S VISIT: A TASTE OF HAP AND LEONARD, published in 1999 by Subterranean Press, featuring an armadillo, a skull with a bullet hole and in the background, a round Texas flag. The long sold out book was a collection of short stories and excerpts by the two authors.Take note that there's a portion of the art that's not included on the actual printed cover (the round Texas flag motif doesn't show up).Signed by the artist, Timothy Truman, and dated 1999. Original measures 15" x 20" with image area of 12" x 14” and is in excellent condition except for the slightest of creases in the top right area in the white space. Art is 100% complete, not like in scan.Note: The art is whiter than it appears in the scan.
