Writing on pages in the margins

3 posts in this topic

Hello!

Can anyone tell me the effect on grading if a book has writing, in ink, on the top of almost every page? It is only in the margins, does not affect the story. I can not find anything in the grading standard, but I am guessing it is significant?

Thanks!

James

Writing on one or two pages, coupons filled out, are common. CGC does count such as defects. It can lower the grade of higher grade books, probably not much affect those in mid and lower grades.

If I had such a book for sale, I would list the condition it appeared to be in and "qualify" the grade by describing the writing on the interior pages. I believe that CGC would do the same. Give it a qualified grade.
