Daredevil #7 - Trimmed?

I've had this book in my collection for quite a while and just noticed while looking at a scan of it that it's either miscut or trimmed.

 

Any opinions on which it might be?

 

If it's miscut, what would you think the effect on the value is?

Are you referring to the outside edge?

Sorry, yes. The bottom is about 1/4" wider than the top. So the right edge appears to slant towards the left as it goes from bottom to top.

Looks like a trim based on how the way it is cut. The top of the right edge starts closer in and the rest of the edge comes back out. Looks like an exacto knife trim to me.

Lots of early Silver-Age books are cut that way.

I have seen alot of DD #7s with a bad miscut. The cut on mine is just the opposite of yours, it's wider at the top and received an 8.5 from CGC.

So true, just try to find a DD7 not mis cut

This miscut is a very common defect for books from 1964-1966 era and DD #7 is a book that very commonly displays this problem.

 

If I had to make an educated guess, I'd say it isn't trimmed.

To me, it looks the opposite of trimmed: it has a lot of paper in the bottom part (I mean it looks larger than average). You should check it side-by-side with other Daredevils of the same period, or Marvel books with a similar date.

 

The fact that it is perfectly centered (besides the goofy right edge cuting) and that the Comics Code is not even slightly affected, I’d say the bottom part should be larger than average. They definitely cut those very bad!

It's doesn't looked trimmed at all. Very common miss cut on this issue. Also, it looks like you can see pre marvel chipping and that's a good thing.

these old books were often cut with dull blades. you can sometimes rule out a trim by looking for imperfection/ridges that runs through all the pages along the factory cut.
