Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con June 14-16

48 posts in this topic

It's awesome that there's going to be two shows in Las Vegas!

I think the local collecting community is supportive of attending multiple shows and having both is symbiotic by nature in fostering the hobby / industry, and Las Vegas is probably THE BEST traveling destination to host a convention for out of town collectors to come visit and have more things to do than just attend a show with more to do at night and more the reason to extend the trip beyond the weekend, and in fact this AMAZING show is held on the Father's Day (June 16th) holiday weekend, so might be great for dads to bring their kids to (or kids to take their dads to to buy 'em cool gifts at the show) and make a trip out of it

Unlike last year where it was Morrison Con and Las Vegas Comic Expo held on the exact same weekend dates (I think from what I heard the LVCE outperformed Morrison Con in both attendance and attendee satisfaction), this year Las Vegas is lucky enough to have comic conventions in the Spring/Summer (ALVCC) and in the Fall (LVCE), so it's a great year to be a fan living in Vegas, and also a great excuse for non-local fans to come out to visit Sin City twice in a year.

I had a really good time at Jimmy Jay's Image Comic Expo in Oakland, that show was awesome, so I'm looking forward to his expansion of bringing his AMAZING brand of shows to the Bay Area again soon. It's always nice to see him at the various shows, whether attending as a vendor (who always has great selection and pricing) or as an event organizer.

The venue, be it the Riviera Hotel and Casino or South Point is the background to the foreground of the awesome guests and vendors that a convention showcases. Both places are pretty much the same in quality, just different in geographic location. At the end of the day, wherever an event is held anywhere in Vegas, after a day of walking a convention floor, you're better off taking a relaxing cab ride to the strip or off strip for whatever activities to enjoy the city of Las Vegas properly (explore!) if you're visiting from out of town, it's a vacation / tourism destination, so if you're going to drop $20 on a hand of blackjack or an old vintage comic book, it's just as easy to do the same on a cab ride in the name of fun (and if you go with a group, it's cheap to split the cost of the rides too).

I actually loved The Riviera, the host hotel and convention center for the LVCE last year, and it was my first time staying there. I look forward to checking out South Point just the same and am sure it'll be amazing too!

Guest Grails

I'll let the cat out of the bag a little here, but I am the owner of Stripside Comics and Sportscards which will be on Las Vegas Boulevard, and my projected opening is May 1st.

Where on the strip? Looking forward to visiting.

The Riviera is a pit. Smells of smoke.

If you are an ARTIST or EXHIBITOR and are even just THINKING of setting up at AMAZING LAS VEGAS COMIC CON, deadline for the best rates/early discounts is APRIL 1.

Also if you are coming to WONDERCON, you can register for space at one of the *3* JayCompanyComics.com retail locations on the show floor.

Phoenix is going to be a fun show. I absolutely love the #Comicmarket there.

If we still have space available at Memorial Day, we can take PCCC at standard rates. I will keep this message board updated on how close we are to capacity in the coming weeks

Looking forward to this event. It is going to be on the same weekend the new Superman movie opens. The South Point has excellent movie theaters, so you can literally take a few minutes to walk to the theater after spending an afternoon at the show. The sportsbook is nice too and they have a good selection of video poker machines.

Hi Jimmy!

Could you please address the outstanding issues you have with various board members, since you're reading this thread?

It would be much appreciated.

Wow!

Those complaints go back years! They haven't been addressed?

Are those folks all still waiting for refunds or books?

Amazing.

Just reading through RMA's link shows 5 people owed substantial amounts of money or books over extremely long periods of time without resolution.

All communication appears to be ignored. Yet Jay Company Comics continues to advertise on this message board.

Posted in that thread, thanks for the heads up.

Any issues with JayCo web orders are completely unrelated to conventions and promotions. With that said, if people email me off group with specific issues, I will personally see them resolved. Much appreciated!

You mean your brother Bill handles complaints?

Come on, don't act like you're Time-Warner instead of a couple of guys running a comic business.

These transactional issues have been ignored for years, I think you need to do more than just offer up another email address. What happened to the prior communications? Why weren't they responded to?

I appreciate the sudden interest in resolving these issues, but you need to be proactive at this point. Treating customers like this is unacceptable.

DC Eng- it's no mistake that we planned AMAZING LAS VEGAS COMIC CON to coincide with the summer movie slate and the excitement of the great super hero blockbusters!

That is smart. Hopefully you can get some of that theater traffic to find its way to the convention doors. :wishluck:

Let's not muddle the thread here.

I live in LA, Bill lives in San Diego, where the books are warehoused.

It was my understanding that with several thousand packages shipped in a number of years that some issues may come up. If parties haven't been addressed- my email is open, and I will be ore than happy to handle each individually, not publicly.

Let's keep this thread about the convention please.
