Minimum CGC Grade for Different Ages.

5 posts in this topic

Here's a general rule I try to follow for collecting CGC graded books.

Modern Age:

9.4 and above for key issues

9.6 and above for non-key issues

Bronze Age:

8.5 and above for key issues

9.4 and above for non-key issues

Silver Age:

7.5 and above for key issues

8.5 and above for non-key issues

Golden Age:

6.5 and above for key issues (which would include most Superman, Batman, etc. issues)

8.0 and above for non-key issues

What is your collecting criteria?

Hi skybolt,

My collecting philosophy with slabbed (or raw) books is to simply buy the highest grade available for what I'm willing to spend and what I can afford for that particular title and issue. For my silver age collection, I try to collect some titles in higher grade than others so that factors into my purchase decisions.

Having said that, the more recent the comic, the higher the grade I try to get.
