Marvel TPB Ripoff?

27 posts in this topic

I pick up the Ultimate X-Men trade paperbacks rather than the monthlies. Today, I bought Volume 9 which just came out, and now I see it only has 3 issues in it (#46-49)! 893whatthe.gif

So I get 3 issues at the TPB price of $10.99, or I can buy the 3 monthlies at $3.00 each (at most) for $9.00. Hmmm... I think I will start paying more attention to the number of issues in a TPB before shelling out the bucks. foreheadslap.gif

Way to go Marvel 893naughty-thumb.gif

46-49 means there are four issues in it: 46 47 48 49

There are three kinds of people in this world: those who can count and those who can't.

I thought there are 10 kinds of people..

Those who understand binary and those who dont

No you didn't. The problem is, "10" isn't binary.

Ive seen it on a shirt i know 10 isnt binary but if I wrote 00110010 it would not be understandable to some people as 2!

Think of it as Binary for the masses!

I don't get it. confused.gif

I hope i have this right

In computing when the electrical circut is on in binary it expressed as 1.

When its off its zero.

So you either get binary or you dont!

Thats how I allways made the connection!

Where does the number 10 come in, as in 10 people in the world understand it? confused.gif

In binary, each digit position represents a value of 2. You go from right to left so the first digit is 2 raised to the zero power, the second digit is 2 raised to the first power, the third digit is 2 raised to the fourth power and so on. Everything is in twos.

In the case of the "10" you are asking about, it works like this:

0 is in the first position so that is 2 raised to the zero power. This equals 0.

1 is in the second position so that is 2 raised to the first power. This equals 2.

Then you add it together to get the number you are looking for: 2 + 0 = 2.

The 10 on the T-Shirt is binary for 2.
