Where does the number 10 come in, as in 10 people in the world understand it? confused.gif

In binary, each digit position represents a value of 2. You go from right to left so the first digit is 2 raised to the zero power, the second digit is 2 raised to the first power, the third digit is 2 raised to the fourth power and so on. Everything is in twos.

In the case of the "10" you are asking about, it works like this:

0 is in the first position so that is 2 raised to the zero power. This equals 0.

1 is in the second position so that is 2 raised to the first power. This equals 2.

Then you add it together to get the number you are looking for: 2 + 0 = 2.

The 10 on the T-Shirt is binary for 2.

You're right except 2^0 doesn't = 0. 2^0 = 1.

Basically, take whatever number is in the position (in this case 0) and multiply it by 2^i where i is the position that the number is in. Thus 0 * 2^0 = 0 and 1 * 2^1 = 2 and then 0+2 = 2.
