OMG what's with all the hate on Man of Steel? (shrug)

I loved it.

The changes to his origin wasn't that dramatic.

Some of you are acting like Krypton didn't explode.

There were plot holes, but not enough to change my rating.

I will go on to say that Man of Steel is better than Iron Man 3 :o

The worst thing about Superman returns was its drab, grey, depressive style & tone.

They did it again. Only with even more gray. Or grey, if you prefer.

The filmmakers should be banished to the Phantom Zone.

It's like they decided to turn Superman into Batman. Not just the scenery, but also his attitude towards normal citizens. :(

I feel it's fine we're not in 1939 anymore... It feels like it fit fine in today's world. I thought it was a great film.

Just got back from seeing it. The 57 rating is VERY generous.

Zero character development. Pure disaster porn that looked like Michael Bey made it with all the shaky cam. I'd say 90% of the shots were distracting hand-held shaky cam.

The amount of meaningless and gratuitous destruction in the "fights" was quite literally laughable.

The overt usage of borderline-huge stars in minor roles was distracting at best and sad at worst.

If you like G.I.Joe, Transformers, and that ilk of film, you'll probably like this too, sadly...

More plot specific issues:

Supes gets a conscious about 3 people dying after what appeared to be the death of somewhere between 50k and 100k people as Metropolis is basically leveled by SEVERAL completely pointless and meaningless fights? Uh huh. Oh and how was supes holding Zod's eyeballs from moving to the right a bit faster again?

Zod wants to turn Earth, a place where he and all Kryptonians are undefeatable GOD's into a place where he'll just be a normal dude (or at least substantially weaker)? Uh huh...

The Codex for all the DNA of Kryptonians was encoded in the DNA of Supes' cells and you figure that out after you take a sample of his blood... Remind me why you need him or his body again?

Why did you fight for 30 minutes plus when clearly Zod/Zod's henchmen and Supes weren't hurting or slowing each other down one iota? Not too bright on Krypton, I suppose.

It's awesome Supes coughing is louder than a terraforming machine drilling a hole through the center of the earth.

Supes, is it really necessary to have every fight smack dab in the middle of town? On Main Street of Smallville AND in the heart of metropolis? At least make SOME effort not to destroy as much as humanly possible...

too much more to go on about.. :/ fail.

I want Superman to be loved even more than I wanted to love this movie.

If the world loves it, then I don't care what I think.

My primary critique is the palette. It's so sad. All the 9-11 style chalk dustings near the end. The washed out tones. The deep blacks. The deep pores in everyone's face.

At one point, they cut to a group of Metropolis citizens paying witness to the battle scenes & every single character was dressed in oatmeal, khaki, white, off-white, slate, charcoal, & gray/grey with a hint here & there of deep black.

It was like the gap on a rainy day in winter.

Loved it! New and fresh take on a character almost 100 years old. Great re-boot. Alien tech was very cool.

You know I love you Sardo! (worship)

Wow! Talk about reviews sounding like they are discussing two separate movies.

This movie is definitely having varying impacts on fans.

Some messages I got from Man of Steel were ones of hope on how one man can make a difference and how resilient the human race can be.

Yes there was some depressive moments in the movie, but that`s what made him cool as he got thru those dark times and prevailed. He showed himself to be a very interesting character, and not the white vanila boring Superman from the SuperFriends of the 1970s. 2c

lol I collect and read golden age superman so if you want superman from 1939s it would be the funniest thing to see on film. "What! Great Scott that women is in trouble! Up up and away! *superman flies off and catches the villains before she's actually in trouble" yeah... You can't use original superman it's a little silly for today's dark world.

Because it`s not Grandpa`s or dad`s Superman.

It`s a modern Superman and a win for Warner.

Superman is relavant again, and no more Mister Nice Guy.

This was the Superman movie I was waiting for :sumo:

Lots of action.

Superman got to punch some bad guys.

I'm pretty sure I know your age, Empress MFG. I'm happy you like this. Your generation deserves to be made happy by a Superman movie.

If you liked it, I liked it!

Just saw the movie this afternoon. I liked it, but didn't love it by any stretch. Also, I thought Jonathan Kent's characterization was the worst part of the movie. He seemed like more of a debbie downer than I usually think of the character as being. Also, at some point, don't you just let the dog go?

For the record, I liked all the casting & acting. Crowe might have been a little irritating but mostly he worked well in his role.
