Just saw it.....loved it. Not precisely what I expected, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

If there was epic destruction it seemed appropriate to the type of villains that Supes was up against. Additionally, if people find the end objectionable it honestly appeared that there was no alternative.

As far as folks saying Supes allowed too much destruction in the middle of habitable areas: he didn't really choose the territory to fight in. The villains in this film called the shots where the action went down and he did as much damage control as I could expect without appearing too vulnerable.

Sure he wasn't the Superman that'd stop and grab a cat out of a tree in the midst of an alien invasion....but is that really what people want to see these days: an unrealistic expectation in a world that has changed so much since the inception of the character?

I think his reactions were appropriate especially the way he reacted towards threats against his family. There wasn't much reasoning or bargaining.....he went ballistic the way anyone would.

If you want to consider that a "dark" Superman, I'd rather think of it as a realistic one with rather down to earth limitations. You can't stop to pick up 15 buildings falling down when you're in the midst of a huge battle.....it just doesn't make any sense and hampers the character's main objective: to stop the worst things from happening.....not stop to help everyone cross the street and hold open doors for folks while amoral villains are hellbent on utter destruction.

That's a kinder, gentler....pre 9-11 Superman honestly....and it's incongruent with the real world. It always was in fact.

Anyway, I loved it as I said before...and all that said, they did tip the hat to the "old supes" the way they wrapped up the movie at the very end. I'll eagerly await the sequel and the inevitable JLA movie that'll follow. DC/WB you didn't let me down.

I liked it a lot too. The action scenes were the best of their kind I've ever seen. Krypton was impressive. The only thing I miss from the old movies is the John Williams score.

Don't you miss Superman?

:signfunny:

Saw it in Imax 3D.

Loved it.

Great movie, awesome character development, superb action sequences, and Faora is kinda hot (okay, supremely hot) as Evil Queen B :censored: of the Galaxy xD Will most likely be seeing this one again, with friends, in regular 3D or even (gasp) 2D :o

The worst thing about Superman returns was its drab, grey, depressive style & tone.

They did it again. Only with even more gray. Or grey, if you prefer.

The filmmakers should be banished to the Phantom Zone.

It's like they decided to turn Superman into Batman. Not just the scenery, but also his attitude towards normal citizens. :(

yessssssssssssssss

I cant wait to see it even more in 12 hours.

The darker the better.

Please let MOS 2 be the "red son" storyline. :preach:

OH NO ZOD IS IN OUR RSS FEED!!!!

Dumbest movie since Star Trek Into Dumbness.

My friend if you didn't enjoy at least one of those movies then even a CGC 10.0 will never be good enough for your expectations.

I'm not saying I got no enjoyment. I just wish the writing was better to go along with the spectacle. Stupidity takes me out of the story and then I'm just sitting there going that looks cool...I will continue to hope for more.

Liked it, didn't love it.

Too much

Space Jesus, Emo Supes and Disaster Porn

And not enough

Classic Superman. Neck snapping? Really? And Louis mentioning measuring? Really? Way too many false notes.

Between James Bond flunking spy school and Superman snapping necks, you have to wonder if anyone in Hollywood believes in anything anymore.

Sure it will drop, but people have reacted positive :whee:

If "it will drop", the people haven't "spoken".

They are currently "speaking".

"The people" are always "speaking" and IMDB ratings are always changing. For the time being through...these 27,531 people have "spoken"

I'm putting an even keel to your overly victorious earlier post, is all.

You proclaiming the debate over on this film doesn't make it so.

On the contrary, it's just getting started.

Why do comic book movies have to be dark and dreary and remind us of current times? Why can't they be light and fun without taking itself too seriously? The first Superman was a magical movie, while still holding dear to some dark moments.

The reason we read about superheros is to ESCAPE reality, not embrace it fully.

I didn't NOT enjoy this movie, just thought the subject matter and theme of the movie was too dark for Superman. Having Superman murder is just a no-no.

I just resent the notion that Superman and the movie have to be more "mature" to fit the times that we live in.

If DC and Superman wanted to make millions this was the only way kids would give a about the character.

Characters like Batman, Wolverine, and Spider-man are timeless because their origins/backgrounds will never get old.

1. Vigilantie

2. Anti-Hero

3. Teen-age Emo problems kids will always have

(4) Superman: loser chump that is a push over with God like powers. :taptaptap:

Superman's time was almost up till today's date.

A slightly darker Superman = realistic

I hate to say it, but a slightly darker supes to me is the only way he can play out to today's audiences.

And to an extent

I think his neck snapping made me understand his objections to killing even more. He really didn't want to, but his hand was forced.
