request 1: PGM Avengers #57

Okay, so these scans suck and the bottom edge is cut off of both. I apologize. My scanner is just a random piece of junk, I never know what part of the scanner bed it's actually going to scan when I put the comics in.

 

Anyway. Avengers #57. There are no important flaws on the bottom edge. The book is tight, flat and glossy. It's very sound structurally. The main problem is just that it's dirty. The back cover is filthy. I have a suspicion that a simple cleaning would drastically improve the grade on this.

 

One other thing I want to say is that the spine rub on the front cover is drastically enhanced by the scan. It's barely noticeable in hand. The book in general looks much better in hand than in these scans for whatever reason.

 

I bought this from the original owner in 1987 for $10.

Yes, color spine rubs look bad in scans, I’m sure it’s less noticeable in hand.

Definitely a clean up with a gentle eraser would be good.

Weird thing is that the back cover actually looks much, much dirtier in hand. But the front cover looks much better. Scans are odd things.

6.0 sounds good, I don't think it would go lower.

For what it's worth, I have this as a 6.0 as well in hand, but I think with a cleaning it would be a 6.5 slam dunk and might get a 7.0. Not that I have any plans to do that.
