Aussie (VIC) Boardies - LCS Recommendations?

9 posts in this topic

Hi guys,

I'm about to fly to Melbourne for the next few days for a work conference. Would love to check out some cool comic stores while I'm there. (There isn't even one comic store in the town I live in!)

I know of Minotaur. I love the store but their prices make my wallet cry.

Does anyone have any other suggestions of where might be good to visit?

I'm doing some googling as well, of course... but would love to know fellow boardies opinions.

One more:

All-Star Comics. Near corner of Lonsdale and Queens Sts.

Same as above. ie. Don't expect many back-issues.

All-Star is about the only one that lives in this century.

The guys that own it used to run Comics R us but went out on their own.

You may find a Todd or Clone but highly unlikely a #1.

You would be better off hitting all the Salvos you see as sometimes people just dump some old Marvels in with the books.

Melbourne's pretty dead comic wise.

MCG for the Liverpool game tonight. Footy all weekend.

Cherry bar in AC/DC lane for late night giggles.

Little Bourke St for Chinese food

Victoria Parade for Vietnamese and North Carlton for Italian.

Crown Casino.

Avoid King St unless you want your head kicked in. Seriously.

Enjoy!

Been to Melbourne twice this month for work and have checked out all the above mentioned stores. All Star Comics is the best by far.

I prefer Classic Comics. It has that intimate feel for me, as well as having the better back issue selection.
