question Re: which gold book is better to have/more valuable

6 posts in this topic

hi im new here-but collecting comics for many years especially wonderwoman gold and silver-but I have a question, more of a dilemma that I cant decide upon (maybe im blinded to the obvious answer cause im to close to it) and need some help from dear new friends who are knowledgeable and don't have anything invested in the answer. so onto my question: its a "which book is better to have/more valuable question" my friend and I have the same book and he wants to trade straight up and I need to know which is worth more-I have a 9.2 graded sensation #60 with white pages with the san Francisco pedigree-he has the same book, sensation #60, graded at a 9.4 with ow/w pages and no pedigree-so his book is graded higher-so which book would you say is better/worth more...and if this isn't the right forum for this please forgive me-im new and maybe direct me to the proper board but all input is welcome-thank you

In general:

A 9.4 is more valuable than a 9.2 [Friend's book].

A pedigree is more valuable than a non-pedigree [Your book].

A white page book is more valuable than a non-white page book [Your book].

BUT the most important thing here is maximization.

For example, the non-pedigree 9.4 Sensation 60 in the link above has been pressed to its maximum grade. However. it is unlikely, that the 9.2 Sensation 60 [san Francisco] has been pressed. It is quite possible that the SF Sensation 60 could be pressed to a higher grade [possibly a 9.4 or 9.6]. Without knowing whether the SF Sensation 60 is pressable, your deal cannot be evaluated.

You need to be careful. It is quite possible that your "friend" is trying to trade a book that is only comparable before being maximized. If he is able to complete the trade with you and then he presses the SF Sensation up to a 9.4 or 9.6, then basically he has ripped you off [and is no friend at all].

Get the 9.2 SF Sensation 60 evaluated (by Joey Post or Matt Nelson) before going thru with this deal.

If it cannot be pressed up, then the deal could be worth it financially.
