Top 10 comics to read before you die

88 posts in this topic

Hi all

As a relatively new guy around here, and the hobby, I thought this might be interesting. I've searched and could not find a similar thread (admittedly my search skills suck), so if there is my apologies and that's it then. :makepoint:

If not, well then I'd be interested to get your views on the top 10 comics, perhaps story lines, to read before you die? Should this perhaps be divided into ages?

thanks!

If you're into the superhero stuff, I'd recommend:

Marvels

Infinity Gauntlet

Old Man Logan

And if there is one book to be read on your deathbed, it's:

The Lobo Paramilitary X-Mas Special

Ok Here's my list of top 15 comic book runs/story-lines of all time that I think any hardcore Marvel/DC comic book fan should have read.

15. Grant Morrison's New X-men

14. Keith Giffen & J.M. DeMatteis’ Justice League

13. Ellis/Cassady's Planetary

12. Bendis's Ultimate Spider-Man

11. Wolfman/Perez New Teen Titans

10. Grant Morrison's JLA

9. Walt Simonson's Thor

8. Garth Ennis's Preacher

7. Jerry Robinson's Star Man

6. Frank Miller & Klaus Jansen's Daredevil

5. Stan & Ditko's Amazing Spider-Man

4. Stan & Jack's Fantastic Four

3. Alan Moore's Swamp Thing

2. Claremont/Byrne/Austin X-men run (108-143)

1. Sandman #1-75. I dont even like it, but I recognize that is is amazingly well written and should be read by just about everyone who reads modern comics.

OK so here's some of my non-traditional list.

Lone Wolf & Cub

Should keep you busy for a while. Every one of those titles is available in some form of mass market trade, so grab a volume or two and see if you like them.
