I greatly prefer condescending sarcasm over a demeaning tone.

 

True story.

 

My niece's elementary school teacher was so concerned about my niece's sarcasm in class that she called my sister aside. In private she expressed her concern to my sister that she'd "never encountered a child so sarcastic in her life". My sister glowed when excitement when she told me her response to the teacher was "Yes! Sarcasm is revered in my family." That pretty much sums it up. If you don't have a spine around me, my mom, my uncles, my niece, or anyone that understands sarcasm then expect to be degraded verbally to the point of shame. Public shame. Repeatedly. Mercilessly. If it is reciprocated, I really don't care. I only evaluate the quality of the responses.
