PGM - ASM 121 - Yes another Death of Gwen signed by John Romita

here's the second book I picked up from the new CGC member.

looks great but i think i detect some water damage on the top left hand corner (front, near 20 cent) and top right hand corner (back)

the back cover on the left side has a printers crease as it runs also on some of the pages in the back

Harsh, my feeling if submitted would be a Qualified 5.0 at best. Real shame about that stain and that combined with the unverified JR signature I'd keep as raw copy. Looked excellent other than those issues. Was the water damage disclosed prior to purchase? Any recourse?

undisclosed. it's really hard to see it but i've had a lot of experience with water damage/stains in the past so as soon as i saw the 20 cent on the front i knew there was water damage. the pics from the seller were hard to tell so went on his grade and the the pic i had. outside of that it's a solid book but it is a shame.

My question would be is it going to be a qualified grade at the grades this book is coming in at? I mean really? Can somebody confirm?

what do you mean?

Most books under certain grades with writing on the cover are not "Qualified" they are just regular blue label. Would that not be the case here if the book grades under say 5.0?

I don't know why it would be qualified. Just because the books looks

a whole lot nicer than the technical grade?

Like a Qualified 8.0 with water stain?

To me the water makes the book grade lower period. Any other thoughts?

You are absolutely right – they usually downgrade for water damage, although I think it depends on whether the staining caused by the water is more or less noticeable.

This one, although full length, is not so annoying, and mostly can be seen on the back cover, but at least a 1.0-1.5 points less, I guess.

Due to the undisclosed water staining, I believe that the seller should offer to take the raw book back!

I mean really, would anyone else here want to buy from him?

he did but since I wanted to keep the action 252 I also purchased, i've decided to keep both books

I think we were talking about the signature (green/blue) not the water damage/stain. that bring the score down to 4-5
