How do you justify taking a pedigree book and cutting it? In what dystopian universe would that be acceptable?

It is crazy to think that even some key Mile High copies have been color touched. Back in the 70s, I guess no one was thinking about the devaluing impact of restoration.

 

I've always assumed that after the Church books were ballyhooed as being pristine, the ones that weren't needed to be "improved" if they were going to be able to be sold for multiples of guide.
