What's the best comic shop in San Fran?

26 posts in this topic

If you like Comic Collector Shop, you'd like my comics warehouse, just across the Bay.

I will second this. Marc is an exemplary individual and at his place you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. No, that came out wrong! lol

Seriously, Marc and House Of Comics is well worth a visit. Very knowledgeable, fair, honest and also an amusing fellow. You will enjoy the visit. Berkeley is certainly worth a trip and visiting Marc would be a perfect reason for going there.

For new releases fantastic comic's in Berkeley is among the best of the best. I would say a close tie is Flying Colors in Walnut Creek.

Does Joe Field still own Flying Colors?

Yes, he does.

I agree about the comment about Berkeley's Fantastic Comics--great selection of new monthlies, in depth. That store is four blocks from my place.

I agree. Flying Colors is great for back issues. I made my first trek there last year after finding out a librarian friend of mine went to school with the owner.

Make sure if you want SA that you ask to see the boxes (they are usually kept in the back of the store).

I picked up a nice VG-range Superboy #68 (first Bizarro) for a good price. I bought other books and had a nice talk with the owner.

I long for the days of Comics & Comix in Berkeley in the late 70s-mid 80s when they had their back loft of GA-SA stuff. Or more recently, Comic Relief.
