Your scanner doesn't do it justice. That's a very nice copy too. Your recent post of it re-invigorated me to hunt down a nice 1st. I have an amazing copy of the 2nd but my Avon OCD wouldn't let it rest

I can't get enough either, so here are both, the 1st and 2nd, left to right. The first is always identifiable by the "Sparse text Shakespeare" on the back cover. It also has a HRN of 40. The 2nd has the "Dense text Shakespeare" on the back cover and a HRN of 58. 

I believe there's a 3rd with "Dense text Shakespeare" and a HRN around 80 but would have to search my old posts. I think I had a 3rd that I let go when I got this 2nd. The 2nd has a color flecking on the spine but no creasing at all on the front cover, which is extraordinary for this book.

Happy Independence Day! Had to check on a few things here today between festivities so posting a couple of the great August 1942 Flag covers that publishers flooded the stands with for July 1942 to boost American morale after Pearl Harbor.

Agreed.  I just checked and my copy is a 2nd with the HRN 58.  Pretty sure this cover was done by Paul Stahr, who was a remarkable illustrator for his time.

A few $2 pickups at Half Price Books today.  F-series double is an F-series double.  3 to the Highest Power looked interesting.  To Your Scattered Bodies Go is a 1st paperback edition in beautiful shape.  And the Wilson isn't in spectacular shape, but I NEVER see the Schrodinger Cat trilogy in the individual books.  The collection with all three is all over the place, but the individual books definitely aren't.

A bunch of in the wild finds today... if driving from Seattle to Portland to go to Powell's Books really counts as "in the wild", at least.  Let's start with some assorted stuff.  I've had my eyes open for the Robinson edited collection for ages, it doesn't turn up often.  And while Alan Brennert has written far too few comics to really be called one of my favorite writers, with one or two exceptions his comic stories range from "interesting, in a good way" at the bottom to several genuine all time classics at the top.  So looking forward to the novel, and it's even signed!

A Frazetta cover, a Brown collection, and a couple of Lancers.  I've had my eyes open for the "Bradbury" for a while, although I read a reprint published under Moorcock's real name a long time ago.

Reading crease on the Popular notwithstanding, I think getting the pair for $50 was a steal.

For sure, considering it took me 6 years to find my current one, which still has a whisper of a crease.

I was sorting through some books and had an inkling to share a few group shots, but the light now is horrible. There are scattered storms in the area today, and my kitchen light is a poor substitute for natural light. 

As I flipped through the stacks, I was reflecting on how fun it was to find so many of these in the wild. I wasn’t as picky about condition then - how could one be? - but I still managed to find some great books. I couldn’t afford to put together some of these boxes at today's a la carte prices; the shipping alone adds up quickly enough. Still, it remains a comparatively inexpensive hobby to get your fix of colorful artifacts compared to the alternatives of comics and now pulps.

Went through four stout boxes at the flea a couple weeks ago. Hard to go wrong at three for $5.
