Thanks again to Brian and Bill for organizing. And thanks for everyone who put stuff up to share and voted for my pieces.

I must say, the votes for my pieces were not what I expected. The Bill Sienkiewicz Scarlett was my 5th choice (I was debating between that and the Zeck Punisher/Captain America) and it ended up being the piece that did the best!

I'm in the same boat. The piece I thought least likely to get any votes did the best.

Still loads of fun ogling all the great art.

Well, I pretty much got snubbed, as I expected. Thanks, folks. You sure make doing this feel worthwhile.

I think we should consider the idea of 5 votes per category (from Gene I think). As another poster said, getting more votes on pieces will encourage more people to enter.

I can see that it might take more time and effort to vote for 5 pieces instead of 3, but it might also be easier, since I was definitely struggling to pick the 3rd vote out of my shortlist so having 5 votes could make it easier for me.

Lots of people do it. At least once a month I get emails from people asking me to comment on their gallery.

I also have a friend who's taken down and re-uploaded his collection 3 times over the years in order to get new comments on the pieces. And yes, he asks me to comment again on the pieces he knows I like.

A lot of the more prominent collectors have been on CAF since the beginning (or close to it) -- I don't think it's unnatural that you see a lot of the same folks commenting on the more popular pieces. Obviously SA art is more appreciated by the community but that's always going to be the case given the core audience.

I find CAF a great resource regardless of the type/era of art, because it's still great to share OA and have folks see art in its original form that they wouldn't otherwise have a chance to do. More than volume (whether it's views or comments), I think it's good to get the art out there so people who aren't aware of CAF end up participating more. Given the volume of art, it's still pretty incredible what a relatively small world the OA community is.

I think James, and many other collectors, will continue to collect what they like regardless of "pats on the back". However, I don't see why anyone would enter best of every year if they continually get 0 votes. That can be quite discouraging. they will just continue to collect without participating in best of (and participation has been declining over the years I believe)

Well, I pretty much got snubbed, as I expected. Thanks, folks. You sure make doing this feel worthwhile.

The reality is that when you have only 3 votes per category, the marquee pieces will always draw the lion's share of the votes when they get included in the respective categories (Ditko Spidey, Killing Joke, DKR, etc). No way around it. It's the way it has always been and the way it always will be under the current rules. I'm fine with it but for those that aren't one possible proposal may be to split each category into 2 or 3 sections ie. <$5k and $5-10k and >$10k and have one vote per section.

I think it's an awful idea to be collecting art for pats on the back. Via the internet.

I don't collect for pats on the back, individual_without_enough_empathy! But taking the time to do the "best of" is. Keep getting snubbed and it really seems to be a wasted effort. But you just keep chirping, like you know what you are talking about.

I don't enter to win, I enter to play. I like the chance to review my collecting year and share what I liked best. It is fun to see what other people have gotten, even if I am priced out of buying some of the best comic art.

I don't watch NFL highlights lamenting that I wasn't on the field :(

I watch it because it is a chance to see something amazing and beautiful.

You would if you were a football player and never got to get off the bench game after game. Doing the "best of" and continually getting snubbed is the same thing. It's entering to play, but then never getting to. How long before you say "screw it" to even entering to play?
